The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are across the continent. Anyone can participate, from beginning bird watchers to experts. It takes as little as 15 minutes on one day, or you can count for as long as you like each day of the event. It’s free, fun, and easy—and it helps the birds. It is a great family activity and we recommend you visit http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/ for fun children activities and more information on this event.

Various species of birds can be found at Blue Licks throughout the year and we encourage all of our park visitors to participate. Be sure to dress properly for weather conditions and you may also want to bring binoculars and a camera. If you have internet access, we recommend you submit your bird count via http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/ , but if you do not have internet access a copy of the species form, checklists, and other bird watching tips are available at the front desk in the Worthington Lodge.
